Smart & Green – our team for sustainability and efficiency
Have you heard about our Smart & Green Team?
This working group makes an important contribution to our sustainability activities. It focuses on smart questions and green solutions – particularly in the area of packaging.
Our trainees work with their coordinators to develop concepts for using resources more sensibly, optimising work processes and reducing packaging materials.
Our junior team has already achieved a number of successes, which we report on here. Our optimisations are progressing step by step, so there will always be news to report here.

2025
Product range rationalisation
Our Smart & Green Team continuously reviews products for potential packaging optimisations. In some cases, this results in a product no longer being profitable and being removed from the range.
This not only saves packaging material (11.7 kg CO2e less), but also resources along the entire supply chain.
2024
Together for a more colourful environment
We will transform our open spaces into a wildflower meadow. A great iniative for environmental pro-tection and biodiversity: a place for bees, butterflies and co.

Wire plastic dispenser now without outer packaging
We stick the label directly onto our wire spools, eliminating the need for plastic outer packaging. This measure enables us to achieve annual CO2 savings of around 368 kg and reduce plastic consumption by 184 kg.

5057-20 – larger packaging unit
The underglass distance profiles have been improved in collaboration with the supplier. Most customers have purchased more than 20 metres, so the packaging unit has been adjusted to 50 metres. The cardboard is now better utilised and the outer packaging has also been optimised.
This saves us 4.1 kg of plastic per year (equivalent to 8.2 kg of CO2). It also reduces storage space and transport space.
2022
SensorTack® Ready+ packaging
By reducing the description, we were able to switch from a 6-page flyer to a 2-page flyer. The bag format was also adjusted in the process. We save approximately 8 tonnes of paper and 2.3 tonnes of plastic per year, which together amounts to 8.8 tonnes of CO2. Our goal is to review all other products as well and thus achieve further savings.

Waste separation in the offices
Thanks to the central collection of household waste and plastic waste, plastic bin liners are no longer needed in office bins.
Only paper is collected there now. This saves around 300 bags per week.

Delivery note bags made of paper
Our delivery note envelopes are now green and made of paper. This change saves us 66 kg of plastic per month.

Adhesive paper tape
The Smart & Green team decided to abandon the classic plastic tape roll when sealing our shipping boxes and instead use the environmentally friendly alternative made of paper.
This change saves around 122 kg of plastic per year based upon equivalent usage.
In our reports, we use the value of CO2 equivalents (CO2e), which are calculated based on data from Greenhouse gas reporting: conversion factors 2025. Annual savings are determined based on average sales figures for the last three years.
